Every day is a good day to be thankful for our teachers. Today I am honoring one of my finest teachers, John Laurence Thorstenberg (1925-2019). He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, played principal oboe and solo English horn in several major US orchestras and was a great friend and human being. His musicianship and character stand unparalleled. There was no detail or problem too small to merit his attention or his ability to improve. He was kind, humble, and generous. RIP Larry.
